"Young at Heart" Senior Adults
The Young at Heart Ministry of the Hillsboro Nazarene Church announces these upcoming Saturday events. Unless otherwise noted, each event is scheduled from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (EDT), and reservations may be made by calling the church at (765) 798-2350. Activities are open to all older adults in Fountain and neighboring counties.
May 11: Defensive Strategies. Fountain County Sheriff Terry Holt presents ways to help older adults protect themselves. A BLT sandwich lunch with favorite side dishes is being served. The event concludes with Mother’s Day Party Bingo. Cost: $3. Reservation deadline: May 8. Location: Hillsboro Nazarene Church.
May 18: Bird Seed Bells. Participants have the opportunity to create a treat that’s sure to attract a variety of birds. Purdue Extension of Fountain County is the program presenter. Following a sub sandwich lunch, participants play Pokeno. Cost $3. Reservation deadline: May 15. Location: Attica Public Library, 305 Perry Street. Note: This program is being held from 10:30 am to 1:30pm.
June 15: All About Penguins. This program highlights the habits and habitats of penguins, and steps that can be taken to help protect their
dwindling numbers. Purdue Extension of Fountain County is the presenter. A turkey croissant lunch is being served. The event concludes with Dairy party bingo in conjunction with National Dairy Month. Cost: $3.00. Reservation deadline: June 12. Location: Hillsboro Nazarene Church, 453 South State Road 341. Note: This program was originally scheduled in January but was postponed because of unfavorable weather.
June 22: Container Gardening with a Twist. If you dread spring cleaning and the sometimes painful task of planting of a flower garden,
then you won’t want to miss this program! Master Gardener Yvonne Clem shows how both tasks can be combined and result in lovely and
creative summer bloom containers. A pizza lunch and Farmers’ Market party bingo follow the program. Cost $3.00. Reservation deadline:
June 19. Location: Covington Church of the Nazarene, 1203 Washington Street.
